Allergies: You likely have post nasal drip which is inflaming the lining of your throat when you lie down to sleep. A doctor can prescribe a nasal steroid which will likely knock out the problem. It could also be reflux but the allergies are my first thought. You can also get tested for allergies but it is fairly expensive and many insurance companies are charging such high copays it may cost you directly.
