Takes time: It may take some time (about 2 weeks) before you feel better. You may not notice a dramatic change but rather, a more gradual improvement.

What to expect: Generally speaking antidepressants take 4-6 weeks to start showing effectiveness. Even then, it is possible that the first med tried is not effective at all and another med may need to be tried. If recurrent trials of antidepressants are unsuccessful, the diagnosis what is being treated with them may need revisiting.
