Croup: Croup is usually self-limiting, lasting 5-7 days, but as with any other respiratory infections, cough is usually the last symptom to go away. Postinfectious cough can last up to several weeks, and it can trigger brochospasm especially if the child has asthma. Croup can be complicated by pneumonia or pulmonary edema. It would be a good idea to take her to a pediatrician if her cough is severe.
