A member asked:

My daughter was diagonsed with croup last week her nose is stll runny her bark cough is gone but still has a cough how long will this last? she is six

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Croup: Croup is usually self-limiting, lasting 5-7 days, but as with any other respiratory infections, cough is usually the last symptom to go away. Postinfectious cough can last up to several weeks, and it can trigger brochospasm especially if the child has asthma. Croup can be complicated by pneumonia or pulmonary edema. It would be a good idea to take her to a pediatrician if her cough is severe.
