Possibly...: "neoplasia" means "new growth" and is commonly used to describe mass lesions or tumors. Some neoplasms (new growths) are benign and some are malignant. In general, a biopsy and microscopic study are necessary to decide if a neoplasm (tumor / new growth) is benign or malignant. Hope that this helps.
