Possible IBD?: Inflammation (infection, ischemic, ibd) of large intestine = colitis. For ibd: ulcerative colitis primarily involves the lining of the large intestine whereas crohn's is transmural (full thickness involvement by) inflammation of any part of the GI tract (from mouth to anus). Both involve similar pathways of inflammation, are similarly treated, increase risk of colon cancer, & may require surgery.
