Tell your doctor...: After 3 weeks from an ankle sprain, symptoms should have subsided if you've been properly examined and treated. If scar tissue formed in the area, you may be getting compression on an adjacent nerve. Get your ankle examined properly. An mri/ct would probably be best to examine the soft tissue. Your doc will probably rule out structural and vascular problems too. Get checked.

Nerve: Sounds like either a nerve entrapment or neuritis. Try ice and nsaids to see if they help. If no help possible nerve block or cortisone injection. Suggest nerve conduction study too.

Have it looked at.: Could be many things, but there is a probable nerve involvement. Have it looked at.
