Muscle spasm: After a blunt trauma to head or neck a spasm of the muscles of the head, neck, face and jaws is not uncommon...Especially in individuals who clench or grind their teeth. Confirm this with your oral surgeon. Usually treat with cold compresses at first followed by warm, soft diet and avoid caffeine. Muscle relaxants and nsaid's are also advised. If no improvement, a soft mandib orthotic and botox.
