Treatment Works: Don't be so sure that there is brain damage. Chronic major depression if present for a long time can be difficult to treat but there is no reason to think that it is untreatable. There are many possible underlying factors that once identified can be treated- both physical and psychological. Feeling pessimistic can be part of the depression. Treatment can make a big difference.
