Skin lesion: A scaling, raised lesion that doesn't heal. It may ulcerate and become secondarily infected. It is only present in certain countries such as brazil, india and sudan. The parasite is transmitted via a sandfly bite.

Leishmaniasis sx: Leishmaniasis = parasitic infection transmitted by bite of infected sand flies. In Mucocutaneous forms it may start with skin sores which can develop into ulcers with inflamed lymph nodes. Inadequately treated or untreated it can lead to nose & throat lesions with congestion & nose bleeds. It can eventually destroy tissue of the nose or throat. Sometimes skin & mucosal lesions are simultaneous.
