It is not common: But any intraocular surgery can induce glaucoma.

Multiple reasons: There are many reasons why glaucoma (which is high pressures in the eye) might occur after lensectomy. The two most common reasons are (1) as a side effect of a steroid eye drop (typically used after surgery); or (2) the 'gel' used during the surgery clogs up the natural drain within the eye, causing a backflow and the pressure to rise. Other causes are much more rare.
