Blisters?: Shingles is caused by the virus that caused chicken pox, but stays dormant in the nerve. When it breaks out it travels down the nerve, causing blisters, pain, and later red maks, and more pain, this progression helps you doctor diagnose and treat this infection. Post herpetic neuralgia is lessened when the patient takes medication.
