A 37-year-old member asked:

I wanted to know when you rupture a ligament does it bruise up?

Dr. Michael McGonigal
General Surgery 41 years experience
Bruises may be seen: When a ligament is torn, there is usually a small amount of bleeding. It may take several days for this blood to move toward the skin. If it does, a bruise may be seen in the area, usually a few days after the injury.
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.
