It can help...: With the exception of children, it's rare (in adults) for tonsil/adenoid removal to cure sleep apnea. It will often make the severity less (therefore lowering the pressure needs on pap), but i wouldn't go in to surgery as an adult and expect tonsil/adenoid removal to cure my sleep apnea, unless the ahi was less than 10. Quantify the sleep apnea with a psg and talk with your doctor about options.

Sleep apnea: Having tonsils and adenoids removed can help to increase the airways, allowing more oxygen to get into the bloodstream, thereby decreasing the severity of the sleep apnea. Check with an ENT to be sure that there aren't any other obstructions ( deviated septum for one).
