It Varies: It may be hours, days, weeks or sometimes even months. You need to discuss this issue with the dentist who placed the filling. The tooth may require more than just a filling.

See your dentist: Sensitivity to cold is a sign that the tooth is alive but not very happy. It could be many things. There might be something wrong with the filling or your tooth. Check with your dentist ASAP.

Variable: There is no set timeline for how long the sensitivity will last. The nerve is inflamed in the tooth and sometime it takes a few days, sometimes a few weeks. In certain cases the dentist can coat the tooth with a glaze which can mitigate the sensitivity and sometimes decrease the recovery time
