Discuss with Pedodon: We can't tell you without actually examining your child what treatment would be the best. Either one might be appropriate in different cases. You should trust a pedodontist who can actually examine and treat your child or find one that you do. If necessary, get a second or even third opinion for a general consensus of what is best until you feel comfortable making that decision.

Pedodontist!!: If your child needs a pulpotomy, doing just a filling will make the situation worse. If a cavity is into the nerve of the tooth and the tooth is alive a pulpotomy along with filling or strip crown is appropriate. If the nerve is dead, typically the teeth are helped out of the mouth, and given to the tooth fairy. A dead baby tooth can cause a problem with a growing permebant tooth. See pedodontist!
