Possible: The wart virus is common to the skin area. When you get a break in the skin the virus can penetrated into the epidermal layers and develop into a painful verruca-wart.

Risky business.: It is just not worth the risk. If you are susceptible and the sandal has a virus, you have a great chance of picking it up.

The same way anyone : Else does. A wart is a virus. One usually will contract it thru broken skin. I.E. Stepping on barefoot by a pool etc etc....
