Nasal saline: Cold medicines are not recommended for kids under six. Fortunately, you can use nasal saline to help with congestion and cough from mucus. Spray or put drops in the nose at least 4 times a day, then use a bulb suction to remove the saline and mucus. You can also give an appropriate dose of Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen if your child is uncomfortable from fever.
