A member asked:

I am anemic and have trouble absorbing iron due to surgeries in the small bowel. can iron be absorbed sublingually. i am tired of the iron infusions?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: Iron absorption involves a complex enzymatic process , in normal state , even with intact duodenum and distal ileum barely few mg s absorbed no matter how much you swallow every day. By sublingual is not the route for it, the reason why your doctors are giving by infusion, as you have no other choice. Good luck.
