Effects can diminish: It may be misleading to think of it "going away" but i understand that with really good speech therapy and other cognitive therapy work, the person can learn to communicate in ways that are close to normal. Not really: Spd refers to a difficulty with processing the meaning of language, this results in difficulties understanding and using language, usually late language acquisition and difficulty understanding questions. Also using phrases out of context, memorizing phrases rather than learning to use words freely. Rx can lead to fluent speech , not necessarily normal language processing.
