Unclear : I am assuming you mean hyperosmolar hyperglycemic nonketotic syndrome. It is difficult without more information to know what was first (hhns or stroke). Most consider that a stroke would precipitate hhns. After a stroke swallowing problems are common and this may cause pneumonia due to food or liquids trickling into the lungs. Discuss with the doctors what they think is the course of disease.
