Hi doc, on and off i am encountering chest pain especially a day after consuming liquor on the rock, heaty foods, etc. why is so?

Heartburn: Heartburn most likely, but be very careful, this could also be more serious! always be careful of "chest" pain. If you're over 40 and usually eating heavy foods and drinking lots of alcohol (more than 2 shots worth a day) you better get your heart checked! but heartburn when bad can be very serious too. It can lead to ulcers or other serious stomach problems.

Reflux: It's probably reflux disease or gerd. But get your heart checked out to make sure it's not something more serious.

Had severe chest pain that sent me to ER. Cardio ruled out as cause. Follow-up visit with Gastro doc suggests it may have been acid reflux. What can I do if this happens again to reduce the pain/discomfort at home so I don't have to go to ER?
