Other issues: Murmurs are often detected in the first hours after birth and represent a normal heart shifting from pregnancy flow patterns to air breather patterns. The PDA murmur disappears within hours or days.Other benign murmurs occur in kids, and disappear as they grow older. The "blue baby" murmurs that signal bad stuff are dramatic and sorted out in infancy.Your bf likely has no "heart" issues at all, ask.

Get an ultrasound: Many times a child can be born with an "innocent murmur, that they outgrow. A doctor can usually tell if it is dangerous or not by listening to how it sounds. If they are unsure doing an ultrasound of the heart (echocardigram) can let you know for sure.

More info: Unfortunately, a heart murmur is not a diagnosis. He really needs to know if he has a heart problem, and if so, what is it? He may have had an innocent murmur which is of no consequence. He may have an important problem. Get him to ask his doctor.
