A member asked:

Why am i still having painful periods after a laparotomy? i have endometriosis

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chronic illness: Painful periods have many causes -- spasm of the uterus muscle, inflammation, hormone changes, bleeding out of our tubes into the belly ("retrograde menstruation"), stretching of the tubes, changes in gut function from ovary hormones, and oh yeah, endometriosis. That's inner uterus lining stuck on other tissues inside (sometimes outside) belly. See your gyn md -- many causes, needs careful care!
