Depends on the .....: Method used to administer and dose of the gallbladder contracting medicine (sincalide). The best validated reference data uses a dose of 0.02 microgram/kg body weight infused over 60 minutes. This technique results in the least variability and has a normal gallbladder ejection fraction of equal to or greater than 38%. If this technique was used in your case, 12% would be abnormal.

Highly accurate: The gallbladder ejection fraction should be more than 40%. This means that more than 40% of the gallbladder content is evacuated when it contracts. In your case it is only 12%. Determination of the gallbladder ejection fraction on a 99mtc-hida is quite accurate. Some physiologic or medications may alter it. However, when it is very low, it is very likely that its removal could help you. Good luck.

Symptoms plus hida: Ultrasound study determined lack of gall stones, sludge etc. Indicative of gall bladder disease. 12% ejection fraction after injection of cck is quite low. If test was administered with slow injection of cck usually with gall bladder removal symptoms will improve. The gall bladder either has chronic gall bladder disease or dyskinesia.Hida quite accurate when patient has appropriate symptoms.
