Possibly: This may very well be normal - after a serious injury like that, some patients will always have some amount of tenderness and swelling which can come and go. However, there are cases of low grade infections which appear later, so if symptoms persist and/or are associated with redness and/or fever, do return to your orthopedist for evaluation.
