Breast bud: Breast budding is a notable early sign of puberty. It may start on one side months before the other & in general starts the clock on menses for ~2 -2.5 yr down the road. Position of a spongy or rubbery mass directly beneath the nipple is key and discomfort with the process (stretch fibers) occurs in some.
