A member asked:

What's the difference between insulin resistance and diabetes? can someone who has insulin resistance not have diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Beta cells: Many people have Insulin resistance. Most obese people are Insulin resistant, as well as a lot of normal weight people, especially if you have a family hist of diabetes. However, many are not diabetic because their pancreatic b-cells make up for it by making lots of insulin. T2 diabetes occurs when that compensatory b-cell surge in Insulin resistant people starts to wane.
