Lump: The testicle is ovoid, not usually round, and has an attachment called the epididymus, the way sperm go from the testicle through the tract at ejaculation. Some men have a spermatocele, or swelling of the epididymus, other have varicocele, varicose veins of the scrotum, and others have a hydrocele, a cyst in the scrotum. Testicular cancer is serious, hard lump, attached to the testicle.

Perhaps : The epididymis sits above/behind the testis. You could be feeling that. But you should see a doctor to make sure that the lump is not something more serious, like a hernia or cancer.

No: It is normal to have a soft, non-tender, lumpy bump on the top and toward the back of the testicle. This is where the epidemis and vas deferens live. Any bumps on other areas of the testicle should be examined by a doc. It can be as simple as a hydrocele or some other benign or congenital condition. No way to know without an examination.
