A member asked:

Can mucinex (guaifenesin) aggravate asthma? i have read that it can.

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. James Fox answered

Generally not: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is an expectorant. It should loosen the phlegm and not bother your asthma. However, Mucinex dm could suppress the cough and cause phlegm to build up in the lungs. If you are having an exacerbation of asthma, it is important to see your doctor.
