Infection?: If it is swollen and painful it is consistent with infection. In this area treatment with antibiotics is necessary. See your physician for evaluation and treatment. An untreated infection could spread requiring intravenous antibiotics or surgery.

LIP SWOLLEN: Swollen lips can be due to a herpes simplex infection (cold sore), or to a food allergy or an allergy to medication.
