A member asked:

What can i do to stop my newborn from being constipated, he is straining to poop since yesterday, i tryed warm water but i didn't see any results?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Constipated ???: Constipation is best defined as a thickened or dry stool produced when the large intestine extracts too much water. Breast fed babies can have poo every feed or only 1/wk. If it is soft, it is normal.Formula fed babies go more often.Full strength apple juice or prune juice @ 1 oz once or twice daily will often loosen stools.
