A member asked:

Is it common for women to conceive naturally/spontaneously after the age is 40? what are the chances?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes!: Ovulation still occurs as long as menses are occurring. The eggs are not as healthy, so pregnancy is not as frequent, but can occur 30-50% of the time instead of 85%, over a year of trying. So definitely use birth control if you do not want to be pregnant. If you desire pregnancy, the process can be accelerated with fertility treatment. Do not count on age for birth control. I have had a 52-year-o.
