Many reasons ...: Education, careers, finding the right guy - one patient told me she only got married at 42. When it's the right time to have kids is an individual decision. Our society encourages delayed childbearing when our biology is set up otherwise. However there are some risks with pregnancy at any age, including teen moms. Most babies with downs' syndrome are born to women under 35 years old.
