It depends: A completely erupted wisdom tooth certainly will make a extraction easier. Some general dentist are very skilled at extractions and some don't do extractions. So talk to your dentist about your particular tooth. Hope this helps.

Hard to say: It is very hard to answer without seeing an x-ray and you in person. It is very possible it can be done by a general dentist, but you need to be seen to tell. If you need to see an oral surgeon, you should be able to use the x-ray the general dentist takes. Get it checked out. Mayme it does not even need to be removed.
