Opiates: If local management of her disease is not effective, hopefully even with the "war on drugs", her physicians will still be able to give her the pain medication that she needs. Morphine and its family are still the best even after many centuries. Their effect may be enhanced by meds like amitryptyline that affect brainstem neurotransmitters favorably.
