Hormone therapy.: I assume your mother has breast cancer with spread to the bones. Most breast cancer that spreads to the bones is positive for the estrogen receptor. If that is true, and there is no spread to liver, lungs or brain, the treatment is usually an oral pill that blocks estrogen production. Chemotherapy is used if the cancer has spread to other organs or if it does not have the estrogen receptor.
