Can getting a chipped tooth sanded down hurt?

Why sand it down?: It is usually not a good idea to sand down or buff down a chipped tooth. It is much more advisable to repair the chip and protect the nerve inside while preventing further chipping. Teeth slowly wear over the years so don't speed it up. Add back and don't take more tooth structure away! please go to your dentist to discuss your specific options.

No, but: Find out if that would be the best option. Whether to smooth off a small chip or sharp edge vs. Replace it with tooth colored composite or other restoration depends upon many factors that need to be evaluated by your dentist and then discussed with you.
