Not much: A dentist is really the only professional qualified to restore a chipped tooth. If may have a cavity that you cannot see, so that needs to be taken care of, too. Really cannot do anything on your own.

Why can't you?: Why can't you see a dentist? The question here is really about how important it is to have the tooth fixed? Or whether or not you feel it's worth the money to have it fixed? Otherwise, you're stuck with the consequences of having a chipped tooth and dealing with the functional and esthetic concerns.
