Inflamed gums are : Most commonly caused by gingivitis and periodontitis, two forms of gum disease, the first being the milder form. However, inflamed gums can also be due to vitamin deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, some autoimmune diseases, diabetes, mouth breathing, medications, allergies, as well as bacterial, fungal and viral infections.
