See a doctor: You do not need to go to a hospital for a doctor's physical exam. Have the exam first, then discuss what is found, and what are your options. It would be a minor outpatient surgical procedure, if needed, and there are smaller outpatient facilities that are not at hospitals. Some small hernias could just be observed too, but need an exam first.
