Is there another way to get rid of gallstones besides surgery?

Not really: There is a drug called ursodiol that is made from bear bile that can dissolve gallstones; however it works less than half the time. Gallbladder surgery is relatively safe and done as an outpatient through small incisions, so if you have a lot of pain from gallbladder disease then i recommend just having the surgery.
