A member asked:

Are diameter sizes and base curve important factors to consider when getting contact lenses?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The base curve is critical for comfort and fit and is most important. The diameter is less critical but should be enough to allow a soft lens to rest outside the cornea and a hard lens to rest totally on the cornea. This is why when you buy lenses on line or in stores like costco, they insist on the base curve as part of the prescription.
