Probably: This is probably a common cold and should resolve within a few days. I'd be more concerned if there were a high fever, blood in the cough, or if it lasted for more than 2-3 weeks.

Depends...: Depends on the reason for the cough. If the cough is due to acute bronchitis or a cold, you will likely feel better by next week. On the other hand, if your cough is due to gerd, asthma or a combination of factors, it may take several weeks to completely resolve. The sooner a diagnosis is made and treatment started, the sooner you will be better. See your doctor.
