The : The most important thing to rule out is pneumonia. Although your chest x-ray did not show pneumonia there is a chance it was too early to be seen on the x ray, it developed afterward, or was missed. Pneumonia commonly occurs after a viral URI (cold) or bronchitis, so it is a real possibility especially since you have a persistent cough.
