I have had a cough for five weeks what is going on? i went to urgent care two weeks ago and he said i had bronchitis. i was given antibiotics for 10 days and a cough syrup. so i didn't get better and went back to my pcp a week ago and he did a chest x-ray

The : The most important thing to rule out is pneumonia. Although your chest x-ray did not show pneumonia there is a chance it was too early to be seen on the x ray, it developed afterward, or was missed. Pneumonia commonly occurs after a viral URI (cold) or bronchitis, so it is a real possibility especially since you have a persistent cough. I hope a diagnosis is found soon and effective treatment follows. Best of luck.
