Growth: It can. Injury to the knee's growth plate can affect growth and should be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon.

Knee injuries: Any trauma can damage growth plates and some times if severe enough will result in limb shortening. Our lower extremities have areas of growth 1.one at the hip 2. Two at the knee 3. One at the ankle. Many times trauma affects on leg.so if shortening occurs the other leg may need treatment to attempt to keep leg lengths similar.Bear in mind that growth plates fuse naturally by ages 12-15 in girls ,
