Carefully.: You can stay active and exercise even with an injury, but you do have to modify your activities. If it's your leg or foot that's broken, work your upper body with weight or abdominal work. If it's your arm or hand, go for brisk walks and do leg work-outs. Bottom line: ask your doctor how much you can do, and never compromise your balance! you'd hate to fall and break something else!

Be compliant: It is good to be active in general, and there is really not any fracture you can have that can totally make you not able to exercise shirt of some type of spinal injury, but you need to be compliant to make sure your activity level does not cause a poor outcome with your break. Check the specifics of your case with your doctor, then exercise on within your specific restrictions.
