History and Physical: Your surgeon will talk to you about your problem and examine your knee. He/she will decide if you need xrays or any other tests to decide on a diagnosis and give you options on what to do that may or may not include: 1) doing nothing, 2) doing physical therapy, 3) getting injections, and/or 4) having surgery. They should give you the risks and benefits of each treatment to help you decide.
