I would recommend: Getting a mechanical toothbrush (like an oral b triumph) and a waterpik unit (wp100). Brush 2 times per day (2 minutes minimum) and waterpik at night. Make sure you also see your dentist regularly. Hope this helps.

Several things: Often poor home care is the problem. Do you floss and brush daily? Has anyone taught you how to do it properly? Inadequate nutrition can be a factor, especially a lack of vitamin c. Using a mouth rinse and toothpaste called "closys" usually is a big help. It was developed by a gum specialist for gum disease.

Brush and floss: Gingivitis is caused by plaque bacteria on your teeth and gums. You can remove the bacteria by good brushing, 2 minutes twice a day. Manual tooth brush will work but electric toothbrush are better. Flossing will remove the bacteria between your teeth. Creat pro health is a good alcohol-free mouthwash. See a dentist regularly to have your teeth cleaned every 3 months. Listen to your dentist.

Be diligent: All my colleagues gave you some excellent answers and suggestions. First make sure you are in good general health. Then preventing gingivitis requires that each and every day you properly brush and floss after meals and not before. Each time you miss keeping your teeth and gums clean, it promotes some gum inflammation which adds up over time.
