Poor dental hygiene: By the time gingivitis is diagnosed we are dealing with a disease that is a bit tough to fix.Brush up and down, floss 2-3 times a day and rinse with hydrogen peroxide or Chlorhexidine mouth-wash

Yes: True gingivitis, or inflammed gums, can many times be improved just from better brushing and flossing, with emphasis on the latter. Most people don't floss, and that is a main cause of gingivitis. And it can begin in as little as six days without flossing. The cause is the oral bacteria, getting under the gum and your body's reaction to that inflammation.

Plaque buildup: When bacterial plaque builds at the gum line. It causes gum inflammation. Once the plaque hardens into calculus, you need a professional care to have it removed.
