Is it possible for you to get gingivitis from kissing?

Highly unlikley: Although the cause of gingivitis is bacterial, it is not contagious. Normally, the mouth is full of bacteria. As long as you clean your gums and teeth with brushing and flossing, the bacteria do not have the opportunity to develop enough to cause gingivitis or periodontitis. Gingivitis is mainly a result of poor oral hygiene and care.
